Jared Kushner's investments in Israeli defense companies raise conflict of interest concerns

According to a CNN report, Jared Kushner's investment firm, Affinity Partners, holds the largest stake in an Israeli company that, in turn, invested in more than half a dozen defense enterprises. These companies supplied ammunition and weaponry for the genocide in Gaza, as well as for wars in Lebanon, Syria, and Iran.

This discovery suggests that Kushner benefited from military actions that he is officially supposed to discuss as the US President Donald Trump's envoy. Furthermore, Gulf states, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar, invested through Kushner's firm in companies used by Israel to wage war in Gaza and against other Arab states.

It is important to note that Kushner does not hold an official position in the US government and therefore is not obligated to disclose his financial operations.

Kushner's connection with Israeli defense firms began in 2024 with an investment of $128.5 million in Phoenix Financial. This company is one of Israel's largest financial groups, with interests in insurance, pensions, and asset management. In January 2025, Kushner doubled his stake in Phoenix just five days before Trump took office, becoming the largest shareholder in Phoenix through Affinity Partners.

CNN found that Phoenix invested at least $456 million in nine companies related to Israel's defense sector. In Elbit Systems, Israel's largest weapons manufacturer, Phoenix's investment alone amounts to no less than $265.1 million. Over the past year, Elbit has secured multi-million dollar contracts with the Israeli Ministry of Defense, including about $200 million for advanced aerial munitions and $48 million for thousands of 155mm artillery shells.

As reported by Middle East Eye and other news outlets, Elbit's weapon systems were used in the killing of Palestinians in Gaza. Phoenix also invested at least $68 million in Next Vision, which produces cameras for military drones; at least $55 million in Bet Shemesh, which manufactures engines for Israeli military aircraft; and at least $40 million in Reshef Technologies, which produces electronic fuses for artillery shells. Bet Reshef has received orders totaling $165 million from the Israeli army since the genocide in Gaza.

Additionally, Phoenix holds stakes in larger companies related to Israel's expanding occupation of the West Bank and the destruction of civilian infrastructure in Gaza, such as the American public company Caterpillar. Other companies related to Israel's military needs in which Phoenix is involved include Israeli Shipyards and Boeing.
