Uzbekistan wins two silver medals at Asian Games

Representatives of Uzbekistan achieved victory by winning two silver medals at the Haiti-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games, which are being held in Japan.

In the judo competition in the under 73 kg category, Shahram Akhadov reached the final but lost to a representative from the United Arab Emirates. After this decisive match, the Uzbek judoka took second place and received a silver medal.

Alisher Ganiev won the second silver for Uzbekistan in Greco-Roman wrestling. He participated in the under 60 kg category and also reached the final, where he was defeated by an athlete from Kyrgyzstan.

Thus, Akhadov and Ganiev added two more silver awards to Uzbekistan's total count at the Haiti-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games.

In the under 57 kg category, Ibadatkhon Agozhonova defeated a representative from Chinese Taipei in the final match, winning a gold medal.

In the over 90 kg category, Shokhrukhon Bakhtiyorov beat Shakramamadov Mirmamadov from Tajikistan in the decisive match, becoming the Asian Games champion.

Earlier, in the semi-finals of the same weight category, Bekmurod Oltiboyev lost to Shokhrukhon Bakhtiyorov, after which Oltiboyev was able to win a bronze medal.

Bakhtiyorov's gold medal became the tenth award for the Uzbekistan delegation at the Asian Games.
