Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and UAE plan to develop CASA railway route

Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and the United Arab Emirates intend to jointly study a new railway route that will connect Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, and Pakistan (CASA), providing access to Pakistani ports on the sea.

As part of this project, the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan, and the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure of the UAE signed a Memorandum of Understanding regarding cooperation on the CASA railway project.

This project envisions the creation of a new railway corridor designed to strengthen transport links between Central and South Asia. The implementation of this route is expected to open up additional opportunities for international freight transport, trade, and logistics, as well as expand investment cooperation among the participating states.

The proposed route will provide rail connection from Kazakhstan through Uzbekistan and Afghanistan to Pakistan, with subsequent access to Pakistan's seaports.
