Amazon launches new family of Kindle readers in Brazil with renewed design and new prices

Amazon has introduced its new line of Kindle readers to the Brazilian market, featuring a redesign across several models. The entry-level Kindle, while retaining its 6-inch screen, receives a refreshed appearance and, for the first time, aluminum finish options, along with a promise of 30% superior performance compared to the previous model. The starting prices for these devices begin at R$ 899.

The basic Kindle with an aluminum finish is available in 32 GB capacity and in green and blue shades. Concurrently, the Paperwhite has been updated to feature a slimmer and lighter body, and the Signature Edition has also started incorporating aluminum into its structure. All models are available for purchase on the Amazon website starting this Thursday, October 1st.

The official announcement confirmed much of the information that had previously been disclosed through leaks. The new basic Kindle has 16 GB of storage and an estimated battery life of up to six weeks on a single charge. A notable change lies in the front design: the screen now aligns perfectly with the bezel, creating a visually continuous surface. This device will be marketed in purple and graphite colors, with a starting price of R$ 899.

Additionally, Amazon will exclusively offer the entry-level Kindle with a rear aluminum finish. This version preserves the compact format and 6-inch screen but upgrades the storage to 32 GB, selling for R$ 999. It will be available in blue and green colors.

It is important to note that the entry price corresponds to the price charged by the previous Kindle. In August, Amazon had adjusted the prices of several products in Brazil, raising the basic Kindle from R$ 599 to R$ 899.

The Kindle Paperwhite has also received aesthetic modifications. Its new version is thinner and lighter than its predecessor, maintaining water resistance and offering control over the front light temperature. Amazon guarantees a battery life of up to 12 weeks on a single charge. Meanwhile, the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition incorporates aluminum on the back, features 32 GB of memory, and adjustable front lighting. This edition has also gained the functionality of charging via a base with contact pins, known as pogo pins, and supports a double-tap gesture to turn pages.

Other changes observed in the new models include the repositioning of the power button, which has been moved from the bottom to the upper right side section—a change that was already speculated in recent leaks. The official prices for these new versions in the Brazilian market have not yet been disclosed.

According to the company, these new devices are part of a restructuring that allows the line to have finishes in the same color from beginning to end for the first time. The most recent update, in 2024, introduced a 7-inch screen on the Paperwhite and marked the arrival of the Colorsoft line in Brazil in 2025, with a screen capable of displaying up to 4 thousand colors. This year, Amazon expanded its portfolio with the launch of the new Kindle Scribe in Brazil.

Amazon launches Kindle Click, remote control for navigating Kindle reader pages

Amazon updated its line of Kindle readers this Thursday, October 1st, by presenting an unusual accessory: the Kindle Click. This device allows the reader to advance or go back pages without directly interacting with the Kindle screen.

It is a compact remote control that can be attached to the arm via a removable strap. Its operation is straightforward: one button is dedicated to page advancement, while the other serves to go back. Additionally, there are smaller side buttons that allow for quick adjustment of the Kindle screen's brightness level.

The Kindle Click connects to Kindle devices using Bluetooth technology, and the USB-C port already present on the device is used for battery charging, which, according to Amazon, lasts several weeks.

Although it initially seemed like a superfluous item, Amazon developed the Click targeting users who find it inconvenient to touch the screen to change pages, such as those reading while on treadmills or under blankets.

It is worth noting that similar devices already exist on the market, manufactured by other brands. TechCrunch points out that devices from lines such as Rakuten Kobo and Boox already offer their own official 'page turners.'

Amazon announced that the Kindle Click will be available in Brazil 'soon,' along with other official accessories. When questioned by Tecnoblog about the price in the country, the company responded that it does not yet have this information.

In the United States, the Kindle Click is available for pre-order at the price of US$ 34.99 (equivalent to R$ 183 in direct conversion). Amazon also guaranteed that the Click is compatible with all Kindle models released from 2024 onwards.

This compatibility covers the latest 12th generation of the Amazon Kindle line, including the new versions of the basic Kindle, Kindle Paperwhite, and Kindle Colorsoft. In the Brazilian market, the prices of these models range between R$ 899 and R$ 1,749.

Amazon may be close to launching its 12th generation of the standard Kindle. Marketing images released by the German portal WinFuture suggest that the e-book reader will receive design updates, such as rounded corners on the screen and a relocation of the power button.

Currently, technical details such as price, storage capacity, battery life, or screen resolution have not been revealed, making certain specifications and possible modifications to the final product uncertain.

One of the most notable changes would be the alteration in the location of the power button; in current basic models, it is located at the bottom of the device, but in the images of the supposed new version, it is seen on the upper right side.

The screen may also feature slightly curved corners and variations in panel depth compared to the bezel, which could indicate the existence of multiple variants of the device. WinFuture reports that the Kindle should maintain an approximately 6-inch front-lit screen, although it acknowledges the lack of sufficient data to confirm changes in brightness, resolution, or panel technology.

The basic Kindle sold today was renewed in 2024, but Amazon still officially classifies it as an 11th generation model. In the same year, the company also updated other readers in the line, such as the Paperwhite and the first Colorsoft.

Additionally, Amazon would be developing a Kindle Kids version based on this same device, differentiated by the inclusion of a case and specific warranty and service terms aimed at children.

The images also show more finishing alternatives; besides black, the new Kindle appears in green, light blue, and purple.

Amazon has not yet made an official announcement of the device nor specified its arrival date in stores. There is no information available regarding the price or a possible launch in Brazil.

In recent years, the company's range of readers has expanded. In 2025, for example, the Kindle Colorsoft arrived in Brazil with a 7-inch color screen, keeping the basic Kindle as the simplest option in the family.
