Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke at the centenary celebration of UPSC in Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on Thursday. He emphasized that the goal of recruitment to government positions should be to attract people to public service, not merely to occupy government posts.
In this regard, Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed to bodies such as the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) to implement selection criteria that would check not only the level of the applicant's academic knowledge but also their genuine motivation to join the civil service.
