September proved to be a very successful month for Maruti Suzuki, the country's largest automobile manufacturer. The company demonstrated significant growth in its car sales in September 2026. The SUV and Utility Vehicle segments were key contributors to this growth.
According to data published by Maruti Suzuki, the company sold over 2.36 lakh units in September. Domestic sales also increased by approximately 30%. For the reporting September, the company sold 191,794 units domestically, including deliveries to other OEM manufacturers. Compared to September of last year, when this figure was 147,461 units, domestic revenue grew by 30% year-on-year.
Including exports, the company's total revenue in September amounted to 236,013 units. In the same month last year, 189,665 units were sold, representing an increase in total revenue of approximately 24% year-on-year.
The passenger car segment of Maruti Suzuki also showed good results. The company supplied 181,838 passenger cars to the domestic market, which is 37% more than the 132,820 units sold in September 2025. Sales also increased in the mini, compact, and mid-size car segments. In this segment, 91,887 units were sold in September, compared to 74,090 units a year earlier. Models in this category include Alto, Baleno, Celerio, Ciaz, Dzire, Ignis, S-Presso, Swift, and WagonR, which is called the company's 'tall boy'.
The utility vehicle segment became the main driver of the company's sales growth. Sales in this category increased by an impressive 62%. In September, the company sold 78,911 utility vehicles, compared to 48,695 units in September 2025. Models in this segment include Brezza, Ertiga, XL6, E-Vitara, Francs, Grand Vitara, Jimny, Victoris, and the most expensive Invicto. The statistics clearly show that SUV and MPV models play a key role in promoting the company's domestic sales.
Furthermore, the light commercial vehicle segment also showed improvement in September. The company sold 3,414 units in this segment, compared to 2,891 units sold in September 2025. Thus, the year-on-year sales increase was 18%.
Maruti Suzuki also accelerated its pace in foreign markets. The company's export business showed an increase of approximately 5%. Last month, the company exported 44,219 units, compared to 42,204 units in September of last year, corresponding to an export growth of about 5%. Over the last six months (from April to September), the company sold a total of 1,146,523 vehicles, exceeding 871,276 units in the same period last year.
