Using Small Soap Scraps: Five Ways to Reuse Them at Home

Soap is an item of daily use in the home, whether for washing hands, taking a shower, or doing laundry. Due to constant use, soap gradually wears down, and often a small piece remains that is difficult to use by hand. Most people throw such remnants in the trash, considering them useless. However, before doing so, it is worth pausing, as this small piece of soap can make many household chores easier and help save money on buying new soap or other goods.

In fact, instead of throwing away small soap scraps, they can be used in various ways. They can be applied both for making new soap and for washing clothes, as well as for solving various minor household problems. Below are five simple methods for reusing worn-out pieces of soap at home.

If you have accumulated many small pieces of soap at home, you do not necessarily have to throw them away. You need to collect all the pieces in one place and heat them over low heat until they are completely melted. After the soap has completely melted, it should be placed in a small mold and allowed to cool. Once hardened, it will become new soap.

Soap remnants can also be useful for making liquid hand soap. To do this, grate the soap and thoroughly dissolve the resulting mass in warm water. After the mixture cools, it can be poured into an empty bottle, thereby reusing the soap scraps.

Worn-out soap can also be used when washing clothes. Small pieces of soap should be placed in an old mesh sock or thin fabric. Then, this pouch should be thrown into the water during washing. When the soap dissolves, foam is formed, which helps clean the laundry.

If a door or drawer in the house squeaks when opened or jams, soap residue can be a solution. You need to lightly rub the door hinges or drawer runners with soap. This can help reduce friction, and the door or drawer will start to move more smoothly.

Instead of throwing away small pieces of soap, they can be used to maintain a light aroma in the house. They should be wrapped in thin fabric and placed in a closet or on a shoe rack. The scent of the soap will spread around, helping to reduce unpleasant odors in enclosed spaces.
