Seeds Fincap Pvt Ltd, a Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC) that supports small businesses in India, has successfully raised over 100 crore rupees in its Series B funding round. The Michael & Susan Dell Foundation led this round.
Existing investors Z47 and Lok Capital also joined the round, alongside Norinchukin Capital and Alteria Capital. Unitus Capital served as the main financial advisor for the deal.
The raised funds are planned to be used for expanding the network of physical branches, hiring field staff, and modernizing risk tracking tools, aligning with the company's plans for further penetration into rural and semi-urban areas.
This capital inflow comes at a crucial time for Seeds, as the team aims to reach an Assets Under Management (AUM) of 1,000 crore rupees by March 2027.
The company was founded in 2021 by Subhash Chandra Acharya, Avishhek Sarkar, and Sumit Dhall and focuses on serving nano-enterprises—small businesses that often face limited access to formal bank credit. Instead of requiring traditional collateral, the company assesses the cash flows and operational activities of the enterprises when reviewing applications.
Seeds provides loans to small businesses and traders ranging from 50,000 to 10 lakh rupees. Subhash Chandra Acharya, CEO and Managing Director of Seeds Fincap, expressed delight at the participation of the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation as the lead investor in the Series B round, noting that their support is a strong endorsement of the company's social impact goals.
He added that the continued support from existing investors reflects their confidence in the business model and the strength of the company's portfolio, and the attracted capital will allow them to deepen their presence, strengthen technological capabilities, and reach more underserved entrepreneurs.
The firm reported profitability for both fiscal year 25 and fiscal year 26. During fiscal year 26, approximately 620 crore rupees were disbursed as loans, and as of August 2026, the assets under management stood at 722 crore rupees. The company's network expanded to 164 branches across India, serving over 70,000 active borrowers.
Rakesh Goyal, Head of Financial Services in India at the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation, noted that small business owners often struggle to obtain formal credit. He emphasized that Seeds combines local market knowledge with risk assessment practices to serve this segment.
Anish Patil, a partner at Z47, which supported the company in its early stages, stated that the investment was based on the founders' experience in small business lending. He also noted that over the past three years, the company has increased its loan portfolio volume while maintaining its approach to risk and credit management.
