According to the results of a randomized clinical trial conducted by American scientists, intensive walking is capable of reducing the degree of sarcopenia manifestation.
The study compared two types of activity: intensive walking, where the heart rate reached at least 70 percent of the maximum, and regular walking, where the pulse remained below 60 percent of the maximum.
It was noted that in the experimental group engaged in intensive walking, the average walking speed exceeded that of the control group by 0.08 meters per second. The data from this study were officially published in the journal PLoS One.
