ArchDaily invites you to the presentation of the sixth edition of the Next Practices Awards, which will take place as part of Design Week Mexico. The event will be dedicated to studying how new practices expand the possibilities of architecture in terms of action and making changes. The discussed aspects cover both the tools and knowledge used by architects, as well as the social, ecological, cultural, and material realities they interact with.
The event will be held at the iconic Design House in Mexico City. In collaboration with Design Week Mexico and Cesantoni, the launch includes a live discussion between three winners from 2026 and two previous Mexican winners, moderated by ArchDaily.
The live discussion will feature the following participants: Next Practices 2026 winners — MANUFACTURA (Mexico), RAMA Estudio (Ecuador), and SOCA (Canada); as well as past Mexican winners of Next Practices.
Christele Harrouk, Editor-in-Chief of ArchDaily, will moderate. The 2026 edition is currently the strongest and most globally representative, as it unites diverse approaches, scales, and contexts, deepening the understanding of how and by whom architecture is practiced. This year's selection considers a wide range of realities: from extreme climates to rural communities, informal cities, and territories affected by displacement and environmental vulnerability.
Practices presented in the competition include engineering, ecology, digital fabrication, materials research, indigenous and local knowledge, advocacy, and critical studies. These areas reflect the essence of the concept of 'the future'—the ability to respond to specific conditions and actively shape the surrounding world.
This year's jury includes Nicolas Fayad and Charles Kettaneh, founders of EAST Architecture Studio; Susana Rojas Saviñón, co-founder of Estudio Ome (one of the ArchDaily 2025 Next Practices Awards winners); Javier Ors Ausín, Director of Thematic Programs at the World Monuments Fund; Sumayya Vally, founder of Counterspace; and Oanh Nguyen Henriksen, partner at Dorte Mandrup.
The Next Practices Awards recognizes innovative architectural practices that redefine the boundaries of the discipline. Over six editions, the initiative has recognized 125 practices from 45 countries, thereby amplifying voices from around the world and fostering a global dialogue about the evolving role of architecture in society.
Attendees are invited to join the discussion on the concept of Agency in the current edition of the Next Practices Awards, focusing particularly on architecture's capacity to act, make choices, and produce change.
