The Minister of Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, announced on Wednesday that his ministry has approved the construction of a large six-lane bridge with approaches across the Tista River in Sevoke, located on the NH-10 highway in Darjeeling district.
The total cost of the project is 1176 crore rupees. This bridge is intended to significantly improve transport connectivity between Sikkim, the northeastern states, and the Siliguri corridor.
The implementation of this project will facilitate smoother movement of passengers and goods along the Siliguri corridor. Furthermore, it will support regional integration, trade and commerce, tourism, and logistics, contributing to the sustainable socio-economic development of the entire region.
