Wendy Hall and her scientific colleagues from King's College London have completed a cross-sectional study. They found that adherence to the principles of the Mediterranean diet correlates with a lower risk of developing acne in the adult population.
The study analyzed extensive data collected from nearly 229 thousand participants aged 37 to 73 who were in the UK Biobank repository. To determine dietary habits, researchers used questionnaires regarding the frequency of consuming various foods, as well as repeated 24-hour food diaries.
The assessment of the relationship between nutritional quality indicators and the presence of acne was conducted using the method of multivariate logistic regression. The results were officially presented in the journal Journal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology.
