The Indian Army has released a notification regarding the Technical Graduate Course for engineers (TGC-145), which offers engineers the opportunity to become officers in the army. This course is scheduled to commence in July 2027. However, applications for these positions will open on September 30, 2026, with a deadline of October 29, 2026.
Candidates can apply online through the official army recruitment website at joinindianarmy.nic.in. Upon successful selection, candidates will receive training at the Indian Military Academy (IMA) located in Dehradun. Selected participants will be paid a monthly stipend of 56,400 rupees. It is important to note that after completing the training, selected candidates will be appointed as Lieutenants in the Indian Army.
The selection process will proceed in several stages. First, an application must be submitted, after which a list of suitable candidates will be compiled. Selected applicants must appear before the Selection Board (SSB) for an interview, followed by a medical examination. Then, a merit-based list will be formed, and those who pass the selection for the program will be issued admission letters.
Candidates with a Bachelor of Engineering (BE), Bachelor of Technology (BTech), or Master of Science (MSc) degree are eligible to apply for this recruitment. The candidate's engineering specialization must align with the directions approved by the army. Students currently in their final year of engineering education may also apply, provided they meet all established army requirements. Upon successful selection, they will need to provide proof of completion of their engineering degree and all half-yearly or annual mark sheets. Commissions can be assigned in the engineering corps, signals corps, as well as in the electronics and mechanical engineering corps. Depending on the army's needs, candidates may be assigned commissions in other branches and services.
