The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has published new fuel prices that will take effect on October 1, 2026. Previously, there was a slight increase in tariffs in September following price hikes in August. However, in July, fuel prices in the UAE decreased after four consecutive monthly increases caused by the regional war.
According to the new set rates, Super 98 gasoline will cost 4.40 dirhams per liter, up from 3.8 dirhams in September. Special 95 gasoline will cost 4.28 dirhams per liter, compared to the current price of 3.69 dirhams. E-Plus 91 gasoline prices will be 4.21 dirhams per liter, an increase from the previous rate of 3.61 dirhams per liter.
The price of diesel fuel is set at 4.80 dirhams per liter, which is higher than the September level of 4.3 dirhams. Since the start of the war in the Middle East on February 28, retail fuel prices in the UAE have risen by more than 60 percent, before falling in July, and then rising again in August and September.
The situation in the Middle East remains tense: the 60-day ceasefire agreement between the US and Iran has expired, and Washington does not intend to extend it, while Tehran threatens conflict escalation. Concurrently, the Houthis have intensified attacks on oil infrastructure in the Red Sea.
Monthly changes in gasoline prices in the UAE directly affect household budgets, as fuel is a necessary and regular expense for most families. Even a small price increase over time may require drivers to allocate a larger portion of their income to fuel.
