Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India's largest IT services company, is undergoing structural changes by reducing mid-level personnel while simultaneously increasing the recruitment of new employees at lower levels of the pyramid.
According to the company's annual report, in the 2026 fiscal year, TCS laid off 23,460 employees. In the same year, it hired over 44,000 graduates, exceeding the previous year's figure of 42,000 people.
Despite revenue growth of 4.6% compared to 6% the previous year, the company became smaller and slower. Nevertheless, the income per employee increased by 3.4%, indicating an increase in the productivity of each worker.
TCS reported that this restructuring primarily affected 'middle and senior levels' of personnel.
