FIFA President Gianni Infantino made a working visit to Uzbekistan, arriving in Tashkent. The purpose of his trip is to study the infrastructure facilities and the current readiness of the capital for the U-20 youth football World Cup, scheduled for 2027 in Uzbekistan jointly with Azerbaijan.
Infantino landed at Tashkent Humo International Airport. His flight was from Baku aboard a Gulfstream G650ER belonging to Qatar Executive airline. The FIFA delegation was met by Minister of Sport Adham Ikramov and First Vice President of the Football Association of Uzbekistan Ravshan Irmatov.
During his stay, the head of FIFA intends to inspect sports facilities and receive information about the preparation process for the upcoming tournament. It should be noted that the stadium in New Tashkent, which will host matches of the U-20 World Cup in 2027, is designed to accommodate 55 thousand spectators. Work on this arena began in November 2025, and the total construction cost is estimated at 100 million dollars. This stadium will be the first covered venue of this size in Uzbekistan.
