Replus Engitech, supported by HEG Advanced Materials, and Indus Towers announced on Wednesday the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The goal of this agreement is to explore cooperation opportunities in the field of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) solutions for telecommunication infrastructure in India.
According to information provided by HEG Advanced Materials in exchange reporting, under this MoU, Replus plans to provide dedicated BESS production capacity of 1.5 GWh over two years. This capacity is intended to support the growing energy needs of telecommunication infrastructure.
Indus Towers is one of the leading companies in the Indian telecommunication infrastructure sector. The company has a presence across the country, covering all 22 telecom circles, and its clients include Bharti Airtel, Reliance Jio Infocomm, and Vodafone Idea Limited.
Furthermore, Replus intends to expand its portfolio of energy storage solutions in the telecommunications sector. Plans include implementing more powerful battery systems and researching technologies such as sodium-ion batteries, aimed at improving reliability, energy efficiency, and operational performance in various telecommunication applications.
Replus Engitech positions itself as an integrated company in energy storage and clean energy, specializing in advanced battery technologies, BESS, telecommunication energy solutions, and e-mobility. The company designs, manufactures, and implements lithium-ion battery systems based on Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC), and also provides system integration, EPC, operation, maintenance, and lifecycle management services for energy assets. According to the company itself, it has already implemented over 1 GWh of energy storage capacity in BESS, e-mobility, telecom power supply, and hybrid energy solutions sectors.
Meanwhile, HEG Advanced Materials represents a new platform that combines advanced battery materials with a strong base in manufacturing, research and development, and innovation. The company also operates in the field of battery-based energy solutions and green energy.
Ridhu Jundzhunwala, Chairman, Managing Director, and CEO of HEG Advanced Materials, noted that this initiative will help form a domestic energy storage ecosystem for critical infrastructure while developing production scale and technological capabilities.
