Firefox 157 has been officially presented. This release is distinguished not only by the version update but also by a significant change in the browser's appearance. The new design includes bubble-like tabs, new color schemes, additional themes, and expanded customization options.
The design, which can be compared to the Project Nova concept, was developed not only for aesthetic renewal but also to emphasize the browser's security and privacy features, while Mozilla asserts that performance will not suffer.
The first thing that catches the eye with the new design is the more rounded interface elements. This feature is noticeable, for example, on the tab bar, where thanks to the strong curvature at the edges, each tab resembles a balloon or a bubble.
Additionally, new icons have appeared, spacing between elements has been adjusted, and new color palettes have been introduced, leading to new themes. Those who prefer more subdued tones should not worry: there remains the option to use Firefox with light or low-contrast colors.
One of the key functional features is the return of the compact mode. It reduces the distance between visual components, which helps to better utilize screen space, and this mode is especially useful when working on small displays. It can be activated via the path: Settings / Appearance / Window Density, by selecting the 'compact' option.
Mozilla has also increased the degree of customizability for opening tabs. When opening a new tab, the user can click the button in the bottom right corner to customize the background image, activate and manage widgets, and configure the number of shortcuts, and so on.
Among other innovations:
- Users already using Firefox can expect an automatic update or check for a new version manually through the Configuration / About Firefox menu.
- The new feature is available for download on the official Firefox 157 page. There are versions for Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems. Although visual changes are also present on Android and iOS, they are less noticeable there.
