Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan denies damage to botanical collection

The Information Service of the Academy of Sciences stated that the scientific collection of trees and shrubs at the Botanical Garden is not affected by the work being carried out in the Tashkent buffer zone.

Currently, work is underway to create a pond on a plot of 50 sotoks in this buffer zone. The agency clarified that this territory is not part of the Botanical Garden's collection zones.

The plot is mainly covered with plants found in nature, such as blackberry, reeds, and other wild species. According to the Academy of Sciences, there are no trees or shrubs belonging to the Botanical Garden's scientific collection at the site of the work.

The project is being implemented in collaboration with ecology specialists. Ecological requirements are taken into account when organizing this project, and measures are being taken to prevent damage to existing vegetation.

The main goal of creating the pond is to study and develop the ecosystem of algae, as well as the trees and shrubs growing near water bodies. Based on the data obtained, relevant recommendations are planned to be developed.

In addition to its scientific significance, it is expected that the new pond will help maintain a stable microclimate within the Botanical Garden. The Information Service of the Academy of Sciences also called on media representatives and social media users to rely on official and reliable sources when disseminating information and refrain from publishing unverified reports.
