This pass has proven to be very useful for motorists who frequently travel on toll roads, as it makes passage through toll booths more economical. The government launched the FASTag Annual Pass on August 15, 2025, and this figure was achieved over the last thirteen months.
It is worth noting that in just two and a half months after its launch, the number of FASTag Annual Pass customers exceeded 2.5 million. By October 2025, 2.5 million units had been sold, and by February 2026, the number of users reached 5 million. This consumer reaction demonstrates how beneficial this pass has been for people.
It is important to remember that this pass is intended exclusively for private car owners. It can be used on 1150 national highways and expressways, but its application is currently limited and does not extend to regional and local roads managed by local authorities.
The current cost of the pass is 3075 rupees. Although the initial price was 3000 rupees, the government increased it in April of this year. Users of the annual pass are spared the need to constantly top up their FASTag wallet balance.
The annual pass allows free passage through up to 200 toll plazas within a year. Furthermore, it is not intended for taxi services. The highest number of annual passes is currently used by car owners residing in Chandigarh, where their share of the total in India accounts for 14%. The second most popular place is Tamil Nadu, and the third is Delhi.
