Three children from a village made an appeal to the District Magistrate (DM), requesting the installation of street lighting in their settlement. Their plea quickly went viral on social media. The children did not write long complaints or engage in arguments; they simply presented their case to the DM asking for the mounting of street lamps in the village.
The situation occurred in the village of Chak Ahmadipur, Moeher post office, in the Sanrai Akil circle, Kaushambi district. The viral video shows three children explaining the problem of the lack of street lighting. The children stated that they were afraid to go outside due to the darkness.
In the video, one of the children, with hands folded, says: 'DM Uncle, there is no light on any pole in our village. We children are scared to go out. Outside the village there are fields where animals live. We are scared, so please install lights.' The children did not limit themselves to words; they walked through the village streets to show the situation on camera. One of the children held a flashlight, which he used to illuminate the streets and show that there was no street lighting on the poles.
The video shows numerous poles on which the street lighting is not lit. A child shows the darkness in the village to the camera and says: 'Look at how dark it is in the village.' Through their video, the children tried to draw attention to the problems occurring in the village at night. One of the children introduced himself as Ashwani Rao and showed people the condition of the village, explaining the problem they were facing.
The small appeal by the children attracted the attention of social media and reached the District Magistrate Amit Pal. After the viral video appeared, the official took action. He then instructed the relevant officials to inspect the condition of the village and take measures to install street lighting. According to information, the DM directed Chaiyal XEN and Kaushambi BDO to conduct an inspection and issue orders for the installation of lights in the village. Thus, the complaint filed by the children to the DM reached the administration.
The entire situation attracts public attention due to the children's manner of behavior. They presented the village's problem to the camera in their own way: after pleading, they walked through the streets with flashlights, shining light on every pole to demonstrate the situation. The children emphasized that outside the village there are fields inhabited by animals, and therefore they are afraid to go outside in the dark. This is why they want street lights installed on the village poles so that the passages are illuminated in the evening and they are not afraid to walk.
