The issue related to the exhaust of the Shineray SBM 250T seemed to have an imminent solution after a retailer in Belo Horizonte (MG) announced the free replacement of the part for affected models sold by them, which could become a national initiative. However, the manufacturer chose not to issue statements about the occurrence, leaving most consumers unaware of whether they will receive support or if they will have to cover the costs themselves.
The AutoPapo portal contacted Shineray to question this impasse and whether there were plans for a national corrective action, but the brand did not provide a response regarding the intention to take any measures. The assembler stated that Shineray Brazil would not comment on the issue, further emphasizing that the replacement action is an exclusive initiative of the Minas Gerais dealership, claiming it had not taken any intervention to assist the consumer.
Details on the launch and complaints
The SBM 250T was introduced to dealerships in April 2026, resulting from a collaboration between SBM, Shineray's premium division, and the Chinese company QJ Motor. In the following months, owners began registering complaints on the Reclame Aqui platform regarding performance, consumption, overheating, and vibration issues.
Due to the visibility of the case on the relationship website, Shineray had advised customers to take their motorcycles to authorized networks for technical evaluation, promising to follow up on the cases with the engineering department. In a previous service, the company itself acknowledged that both the assembler and the dealerships were aware of problems in certain units of the 250T, a recognition that contrasts with its current refusal to position itself.
In this context, SBM Shineray BH announced the free exchange of the exhaust for bikes sold by this store. According to the establishment, the refurbished part manages to reduce the side heat of the engine and decrease noise, and the exchange is offered optionally.
Following the repercussion of the case, our editorial team sought feedback, but the negative response persists, keeping the public uncertain about what measures will be adopted to resolve the situation.
Availability and cost of the part
The new exhaust for the Shineray SBM 250T is not yet available for sale. We checked with MTG, the part manufacturer, regarding the product launch status, and the muffler brand's service informed that there is still no defined date for the launch. MTG's customer service only guaranteed: 'Follow our channel! It will be disclosed soon.' Meanwhile, SBM Shineray BH estimated that it will take approximately 60 days until the first parts arrive to begin commercialization.
For the consumer, if the manufacturer does not take a stand, the only alternative is to bear the losses themselves. In situations like this, the manufacturer's responsibility for an official recall is only triggered if risks to the health or safety of the vehicle occupants or nearby people are detected. To date, no such risk has been identified regarding the exhaust of the new SBM 250T.
Since the product has not been officially launched, it is not possible to determine its exact cost. Exhaust parts marketed by MTG have varied values, starting around R$ 200 or R$ 300 and potentially reaching close to R$ 2 thousand.
