The Turkish Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, reported on the results of research conducted during the study of an ancient shipwreck. Since the beginning of 2025, underwater archaeologists have been working in the area of the town of Adrasan, located in Antalya province.
A large number of ceramic items were found by researchers at a depth of approximately 42–55 meters. This pottery sank to the seabed about 2100 years ago, corresponding to the end of Hellenism or the beginning of Roman rule.
It is particularly noteworthy that thanks to a unique packaging method, the ancient cargo has been preserved in good condition. The items were separated by layers of clay when placed in crates, which ensured their preservation.
