How to increase water pressure from the tap by installing a special pipe in the tank?

Sometimes the water pressure in household taps becomes too low, which makes performing daily tasks difficult. To increase the pressure at the tap, it is necessary to install a special pipe into the reservoir. When this pipe is installed, the pressure at the tap increases automatically. Next, we examine the types of pipes suitable for installation in the tank.

To increase the water pressure from the tank to the tap, you should use a CPVC or UPVC pipe with a diameter of 1.5 inches (wooden inch) for exiting the tank. Using such a thin pipe reduces the water flow.

After that, gradually moving downwards, you can use a reducer to further narrow the pipe, which further increases the pressure. The 1.5-inch pipe should be connected to a reducer to reduce it to 1 inch, and then a thinner pipe with a diameter of 3/4 inch should be used for connection in the bathroom or kitchen.

Thus, it is always preferable to start the main supply from the upper tank with a thick 1.5-inch pipe. As the pipeline descends to lower floors or rooms, it is recommended to use reducers to decrease the diameter to 1.25 inches, 1 inch, half an inch, or even 3/4 inch.

Instead of iron pipes, it is always more effective to use high-quality branded CPVC or UPVC pipes. Iron pipes can become clogged due to rust (dirt), leading to a decrease in pressure.

There is another important aspect for increasing pressure. It is necessary to minimize the number of bends (elbows) in the plumbing system. You should install as few 90-degree angle fittings as possible. With a large number of bends, 5-6% of the pressure is lost at each such fitting. Instead of 90-degree fittings, it is better to use 45-degree or long bends.

In addition, one must not forget about installing an air valve. Air trapped in the pipeline stops the water flow. To prevent this and maintain constant pressure, be sure to install an air valve, which should be located approximately 1.5 feet above the tank level. The outlet port of the water tank should be located 2–2.5 inches above the bottom so that dirt or sediment accumulated at the bottom does not enter the pipe.
