This gigantic truck with 308 wheels, covering a journey of about 1000 kilometers, is moving at a speed of only 10–20 kilometers per day. The reality of this trip, which goes from Belgium to Lakhimpur, Uttar Pradesh, may seem unusual.
Leaving the port of Paradip, the truck traveled through Jharkhand and Bihar, reaching Chandawli. However, its movement was halted for the last two days due to road conditions. Since it was impossible to proceed further on the regular road with such a massive vehicle, the cargo had to be routed via a special path before the truck reached Varanasi.
Completing this 1000-kilometer route took about two months, equating to an average progress of 16–18 kilometers per day. In areas where the road was in order, the speed reached 20 kilometers per day, while on difficult sections, it slowed down to 10–12 kilometers.
The most curious aspect is the huge public interest in this truck. Local residents and people from other areas come to see it. Some are amazed by the 308 wheels, while others take selfies with the massive machine mounted on it.
This transport is not ordinary. Its uniqueness lies in the number of wheels—308. This colossal truck is transporting heavy machinery, which is a reactor. Its final destination is the Kumbhi sugar factory in Lakhimpur, Uttar Pradesh, and it arrived from Belgium. According to logistics manager Aneek Bharti, obstacles related to height and width arise along the way. These obstacles are resolved after obtaining permissions from the relevant departments and officials.
A similar problem occurred in Chandawli. A special route is being prepared to allow the truck to safely access the ring road. Thus, during this entire journey, not only the truck itself is moving, but infrastructure is also being created for its passage.
According to the logistics team, the journey of this giant machine began many months ago. In April, the machine was shipped from Belgium to India by sea. After approximately one month of sailing, it arrived at the port of Paradip in Odisha. Then began the complex task of transporting it overland to Uttar Pradesh. The machine was loaded onto a special 308-wheeled truck in Paradip and sent towards Uttar Pradesh via Jharkhand and Bihar.
The journey, which started at sea, is now continuing on land, and new difficulties are emerging at every stage.
After leaving Paradip, the truck passed through Jharkhand and Bihar, reaching the border of Uttar Pradesh, and then headed towards Chandawli. It was forced to stop near the ring road in the Pandit Dindiyapal Upadhyay area. Further movement was impossible because the road did not meet the height and width requirements of the machine. The logistics team organized route preparation. Logistics manager Aneek Bharti reported that various obstacles are encountered along the way, which are resolved after coordination with the relevant departments and authorities. He referred to the machine as a reactor, although he stated he is not authorized to provide technical information.
The truck, stopped in Chandawli, is still in the middle of its journey. According to the logistics team, it will require another two to three weeks to reach its final destination. Even after leaving Chandawli, the movement will not be as fast as that of ordinary trucks. Due to the need to check the route considering obstacles such as height, width, bridges, and overpasses, the truck will only move after a thorough assessment of the route. This is why there is high interest among the local population surrounding this mission.
People from Bihar are also coming to see this truck. Nilam, who came from Durgawati, said she saw the truck on social media and decided to come to see it with her own eyes. Abdul Waris from Durgawati, Bihar, noted that this truck has been widely discussed. He heard that roads had to be built, obstacles removed, and even overpasses raised to get it out. He came to Chandawli to watch how such a huge reactor would be moved.
Even technical specialists, such as marine engineer Sanjay Yadav from a nearby village, have arrived to see it. He said he has seen larger cargo on ships, but watching such a massive machine arrive overland is a completely different experience.
