Two friends from the state of California in the USA managed to break the Guinness World Record by assembling the entire 'World Map' Lego set, which consists of 11,695 pieces, in less than five hours—specifically, in 4 hours, 59 minutes, and 51 seconds.
Athena Leong and Sevi Swift completed this challenge on April 12th at the Brick by Brick Toys store. Prior to this, they had been training with this set for an entire month, which is the largest available Lego set in two-dimensional format.
According to Athena, Lego provided her with 'tools' to express her imagination as a child, 'long before she had the skills or resources to bring her ideas to life in any other way.' She added, explaining, 'When I met Sevi a year ago, we quickly became close due to our shared love for Lego.'
Their joint efforts allowed them to earn the title of 'Fastest time to build a LEGO world map (two-person team)' in the Guinness registry.
Athena also noted that attempting to win this Guinness World Record title seemed like 'an amazing way to celebrate our friendship and how much LEGO has influenced who we are today.'
With headphones on and taking only short breaks, the couple was completely focused on their work, which pleased the customers visiting the store. Ultimately, their efforts paid off.
