High-speed railway line connecting Dakar city and international airport opened in Dakar

Thanks to this 19-kilometer extension, passengers can now travel from the city center to the airport in just 55 minutes, significantly faster than traveling by road, which is usually heavily congested.

Construction of this section began in March 2022 and cost approximately 420 million euros. Funding was provided by the Senegalese state and several financial partners, including the Islamic Development Bank (BID), the African Development Bank (AfDB), the West African Development Bank (BOAD), as well as French loans, according to data from Apix, the state agency responsible for project management.
