The platform Archademy.ai, in partnership with Fundació Antoni Gaudí, has introduced AIxGaudi, a new model that combines advanced training in artificial intelligence tools with an international architecture contest.
This initiative aims to merge practical training in sophisticated AI technologies, such as ComfyUI and Flux.2, with the development of an architectural project that will be judged by an international panel.
The relevance of this event coincides with the celebration of Gaudí Year, marking the centenary of Antoni Gaudí's death, and with the designation of Barcelona as World Capital of Architecture in 2026. AIxGaudi seeks to translate the master's technical experimental spirit into the age of machine learning, uniting technical training and practical design.
The Urban and Architectural Challenge: "The Gaudí Nexus"
The contest proposes that participants address a significant urban problem in Barcelona: how to reconcile mass tourism with the life of the local population. The focus is on the area around the Sagrada Família, where the design for "The Gaudí Nexus" is requested. This project must integrate a Local Market and a Digital Culture Center, in addition to promoting the urban reconfiguration of the adjacent square.
The central purpose is to reintegrate public space for residents without neglecting the foreign visitor. The project must create a connection between citizens and tourists through a spatial organization that contemplates areas for local commerce and community gatherings, including educational spaces so that visitors can understand Gaudí's work before visiting, preventing the area from becoming a mere theme park.
From Gaudí's Geometry to Generative AI
The challenge is not limited to the aesthetic copying of Gaudí's work; it requires the application of his fundamental principles—such as regulated geometry, catenary structures, organic lighting, and biomimetics—in a complete project where form, function, and structure interact harmoniously.
To achieve this goal, registration includes a specialized training program, available permanently, focused on mastering open-source parametric environments like ComfyUI and Flux.2. These workflows allow surpassing the limitations of traditional image generators, offering precise control over curves, volumes, circulation, and construction details. Thus, the proposal functions as a Proof of Work exercise, filling the gap between theory and professional practice.
International Jury and Certification
Submissions will be analyzed by an international panel composed of experts in architecture, academics, and design technologists. All teams that present their projects will receive an Individual Digital Certificate, validating both the technical training in ComfyUI and its practical application to the architectural challenge.
Call Schedule
The important dates are: August 12, the opening date for registrations (Launch Special Phase) and access to the course; December 16, the deadline for project submission; and February 4, the official announcement of the winners.
