The change of seasons leads to a decrease in air humidity, which negatively affects the condition of the skin. Dryness, tightness, and peeling of the face, hand, and leg skin become a common problem. Most soaps and lotions available in stores contain chemical substances and parabens, which may temporarily relieve the condition but cause damage to the skin in the long term.
Under these conditions, there is no need to spend money on expensive cosmetic products. You can prepare a natural cream based on shea butter using only three natural components. This homemade cream penetrates deep into the layers of the skin, retaining moisture and making the skin incredibly soft and radiant.
To make the cream, you will need the following components: half a cup of unsalted shea butter, two tablespoons of pure coconut or almond oil, one teaspoon of aloe vera gel, and 4-5 drops of your chosen essential oil (such as lavender or rose).
First, mix the shea butter and coconut/almond oil in a bowl. They need to be slowly melted in a water bath for 2-3 minutes. After complete melting, remove the mixture from the heat and place the bowl in the freezer for 15-20 minutes so that it partially solidifies.
Then, take the mixture out of the freezer and add one teaspoon of aloe vera gel along with the essential oil. The mixture must be whipped using a hand mixer or electric whisk (or a fork) for 4-5 minutes. Gradually, the texture will become completely white and airy, resembling whipped cream or an expensive store-bought cream base.
The finished, pure, fragrant shea-based cream should be transferred to a clean, dry glass jar. It is recommended to apply it immediately after showering or before bed on the face, hands, elbows, and legs. This will help eliminate dryness and keep the skin velvety all day long.
