Uzbekistan plans to develop logistics infrastructure in five seaports
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, during the presentation of major projects in transport and logistics, reviewed issues regarding expanding Uzbekistan's capabilities to access global markets through its seaports. This was reported by the president's press service.
Currently, work is underway to create logistics infrastructure with Uzbekistan's participation in the ports of Aktau, Turkmenbashi, and Baku on the Caspian Sea, as well as in the ports of Poti and Anakia on the Black Sea.
A contract for the creation of a logistics center has been signed at the port of Poti, and feasibility studies for this project are currently being developed. Furthermore, opportunities to participate in the development of the Port of Anakia, as well as in the construction of the Nakhchivan railway serving the ports of Samsun and Istanbul in Turkey, are being studied.
It is expected that these directions will serve to diversify the routes for exporting products from the light industry, chemical, agricultural, and mining and metallurgical sectors to external markets.
It is also planned to expand the logistics infrastructure within Uzbekistan itself. Seventeen projects for logistics centers and terminals will be implemented in the provinces of Tashkent, Andijan, Surkhandarya, and Bukhara. The specialization of the areas of Khonobod and Angren, Yangiyol, Okhangaron, Olot, and Termiz in the field of transport and logistics is also being considered.
In the freight transport sector, the share of the unregistered economy exceeds 42 percent. In this regard, it was proposed to introduce a unified digital transport system, a carrier registry, an electronic bill of lading, and an order aggregator.
It is also planned to expand the exchange of electronic permits in international transport and launch a real-time cargo movement monitoring system.
Russia joins the list of chicken meat suppliers to Uzbekistan
Uzbekistan primarily imports chicken meat from Turkey, Russia, and China. Russia has taken its place among the main suppliers of chicken meat to Uzbekistan.
From January to August 2026, Russia supplied 7.2 thousand tons of chicken meat to Uzbekistan. According to data from the National Statistical Committee, 39.8 thousand tons of chicken meat were imported into Uzbekistan during this period at a total value of $47.6 million.
The import volume increased by 7.9 thousand tons, which accounts for 24.8% compared to the same period in 2025.
Turkey is the leader in chicken meat supplies, having supplied 10.2 thousand tons. China holds the third position, exporting 5.2 thousand tons.
