Iranian weightlifter Reyhaneh Karimi won historic bronze at the 2026 Asian Games

Iranian weightlifter Reyhaneh Karimi won a historic bronze medal in the women's 77 kg category at the Asian Games in Nagoya. During the competition, she lifted 107 kg in the snatch, 136 kg in the clean and jerk, achieving a total of 243 kg.

This appearance by Karimi on the podium was a historic moment as she became the first Iranian female weightlifter to receive an award at the Asian Games. Her performance added a new chapter to the history of Iranian women's weightlifting and brought the country its first medal in this sport at the Asian Games.

The gold medal was won by Chinese athlete Rensiu He, with a total lift of 258 kg. The silver medal was received by Ayanat Zhumagali from Kazakhstan, finishing the competition with a total result of 246 kg.
