Kunal Kemmu, who gained recognition as a director with the film 'Madgaon Express', has returned to the big screen with the new comedy-action film 'Vibe'. This film presents an interesting blend of action, comedy, and new faces. Kunal stars in the project alongside Tapsh Srivastava, known from 'Laapata Ladies', and debutante actress Vanshika Dir. During a special interview for 'Starcast' ahead of the premiere, they discussed the plot of 'Vibe', the complexity of balancing acting and directing for Kunal, and his expectations for the movie.
Vanshika shared her feelings about her Bollywood debut, admitting to feeling both excitement and thrill. She hopes that the audience will appreciate her work in the film and considers the release of the movie on the big screen a very emotional moment she cannot put into words.
When asked about the pressure following 'Madgaon Express', Kunal explained that there was pressure, but it was constructive. He noted that the audience, which previously watched the film without high expectations, would now approach the next project with certain hopes. However, he emphasized that it was important for him to create 'Vibe' with its own unique identity, distinct from 'Madgaon Express' in terms of characters and overall atmosphere, despite having humor.
He categorically rejected the idea that his next work must be better than the previous one. Kunal stated that he would try to bring something new to avoid boredom, but his main goal is to entertain the audience, just as 'Madgaon Express' did. He also mentioned that humor is subjective, and his task is to honestly portray what he genuinely likes, without changing the story for fear of disappointing the public.
Tapsh Srivastava, appearing in 'Vibe' after success in 'Laapata Ladies', feels his career has only just begun. He called the opportunity to work on a project like 'Vibe' after 'Laapata Ladies' a true blessing. He added that often after one role, audiences want to see the actor in similar roles, but he always strives to break that mold, and 'Vibe' gave him that opportunity.
Vanshika spoke about her experience working with Kriti Jain, as she had seen almost all of this actress's films in childhood. For her, the collaboration was a very special and real experience, and she noted that she really enjoyed working with Kriti Jain.
When asked about self-censorship when writing comedic scenes, Kunal replied that he has not encountered such situations yet. He stressed that he writes based on his sensitivity, but problems only arise when the work reaches the public. He urged people not to be afraid to express their opinions if the intention is not to cause harm, but if even without ill intent it causes a negative reaction, a creative person should learn how to express the same thought differently using a creative approach.
