The Vila Marebo project, located in southern Bahia, was developed following an invitation from a long-time partner. The initial concept aimed to create two distinct blocks, connected by a walkway and a spacious pergola. The intention went beyond merely being a residence, seeking to establish a true village that harmonizes with the terrain.
This flexible spatial division was designed to encourage moments of gathering, conversation, and leisure, transforming pathways and adjacent spaces into environments that promote welcome and a rich sensory experience.
In its implementation, crucial aspects such as solar orientation and ventilation were considered, vital elements to ensure the thermal comfort characteristic of the region. Openings were strategically positioned to allow the transversal circulation of the Bahian breeze, reducing barriers between the interior and exterior and integrating the architecture with the natural setting, providing a comfortable experience fully connected to the tropical climate.
The selection of materials sought to genuinely reflect the local atmosphere, combining white stucco, the warmth of wood, glass, and the use of natural fibers. A highlight is the ceilings and enclosures made of biriba, which not only function as filters for natural light but also create dynamic shadows that move across the house as the sun advances throughout the day.
Upon entering the social area, the visitor is greeted by a space with high ceilings. The roof, composed of a wooden pergola with a glass covering and biriba ceiling, visually and physically directs steps toward the leisure area. The functional planning is intelligent: the kitchen has a fluid opening and total connection with the outdoor space and the gourmet area.
On the ground floor, there is a suite featuring a bathroom with access to a private garden, ensuring privacy and a moment of rest. On the upper floor, two additional suites offer the benefit of exclusive balconies.
Being at Vila Marebo means realizing that the rhythm of life in Bahia follows a different beat. It is waking up to the soft light filtered through the biribas, feeling the morning coolness while walking freely on the balconies, and allowing the sea breeze to dispel any sense of urgency. In this place, vacation transcends mere downtime, becoming a state of mind, a refuge designed to accumulate the best moments, celebrate the soul-illuminating sun, and simply enjoy happiness.
