The performance of Indian athletes at the Asian Games continues impressively. Saturday, September 26th, proved to be a remarkable day for Indian athletes. With the capture of two gold medals, India climbed to 10th place in the overall medal tally.
In a tense and thrilling match against Iran, the men's kabaddi team demonstrated brilliant play and secured a gold medal. Although the Indian team faced serious resistance from Iran, the Indian players managed to completely change the course of the game in the final moments. Kabaddi has always been a strong suit for India in the history of the Asian Games, and this time the Indian 'lions' once again proved their superiority, defeating the Iranian team 40-34 and winning the Asian Games title.
Earlier, the women's kabaddi team also retained its title by defeating Iran 37-34, adding a fourth gold to the country's collection. The women succeeded by winning against the Iranian team in the final.
In archery, the country's star, Tejinderpal Singh Tur, showed magnificent play, winning a silver medal for the country. He has previously brought glory to the nation at the Asian Games.
Savan Barwal from India set a new national record by winning a silver medal in the men's marathon. A team of three female athletes in the 50-meter rifle shooting discipline placed third, securing a silver medal for India. However, in the individual final, Tilottama Sen and Vidarsa were very close to winning a medal but could not secure it.
Prachi Choudhary showed outstanding results in the 400-meter race, finishing with a time of 53.21 seconds, which was the best result of her career, and won a bronze medal. Prachi reached the final with the sixth fastest personal record on the field but successfully executed her running tactics, overtaking highly ranked competitors and taking a spot on the podium.
In shot put, Tejinderpal Singh Tur won silver, marking his third consecutive medal at the Asian Games.
In the marathon, Savan Barwal won silver, setting a new national record. The team of three women in the 50-meter rifle shooting also won a silver medal.
In squash competitions, experienced Indian players Joshna Chinappa and Velvan Sentilkumar gave their all in the mixed doubles semi-final but lost to a strong pair from Hong Kong (China)—Li Kai and Tan Ming Hong with a score of 1-2 (10-11, 11-2, 10-11). Despite this intense battle, the Indian pair guaranteed themselves a bronze medal for the country.
Indian archers continue to demonstrate excellent results. In the women's 50-meter rifle team event, the talented trio consisting of Tilottama Sen, Vidarsa Ke. Vinod, and Asha Choksi won a silver medal for India. India scored 1763 points in this complex competition and lagged by only 10 points behind the strong Chinese team, which scored 1773 points, matching its own record.
In hockey, the Indian men's team confidently advanced to the semi-finals, defeating the host nation Japan 2-0. Abhishek scored the goal early in the match, after which captain Harmanpreet Singh sealed the victory with a penalty goal.
