Iranian javelin thrower Mohammadreza Taibi won a gold medal at the 2026 Asian Games held in Nagoya on Saturday.
He took first place in the men's javelin throw, throwing the implement 20.81 meters, thereby breaking the competition record. This award became Iran's seventh gold medal at these Games.
Another Iranian javelin thrower, Hassan Ajami, finished fifth, achieving a result of 19 meters and 37 centimeters.
The silver medal was won by Indian javelin thrower Tajinderpal Singh Toor from India with a result of 20.64 meters, while bronze was awarded to Mohammad Tolu from Saudi Arabia, who threw the implement 20.48 meters.
