The appearance of cracks in the walls of residential buildings is a serious problem because it gradually weakens the structure of the building. One such modern method is injection grouting.
Injection grouting is a technological process designed to fill internal voids and cracks in walls, roofs, or foundations, as well as to prevent water penetration. Let's look at how this technology works and how much it increases the strength of the structure.
To perform the procedure, small holes are first created near or along the crack at specific intervals. Thin metal or aluminum tubes are installed in these holes. Using special equipment, grout material, such as cement mortar, epoxy resin, or polyurethane chemical (PU), is injected into these tubes under high or low pressure.
Under pressure, the cement mortar or epoxy resin spreads to the farthest corner of the crack. After this, the material hardens or sets, completely blocking pathways for water.
If polyurethane grouting is used to stop leaks, this chemical expands upon contact with water and is capable of stopping the leak within 10–20 minutes. The time required to restore strength depends on the type of material used. For example, when using cement grout or epoxy resin, the process may take from 24 to 48 hours or even longer, as these materials require time to achieve hardness and strength.
After completing the injection grouting, the wall or roof usually becomes waterproof and resistant to damage, provided that the work is performed using high-quality materials and following the correct methodology. If the material injection process, nozzle installation, or drilling is not performed by professionals, cracks may reappear in the future. Therefore, it is strongly recommended to carry out injection grouting only by specialists.
Thus, using this technology allows cracks in house walls or roofs to be easily eliminated without the need for dismantling and costly repairs. This method saves time and significantly increases the overall strength of the dwelling.
