US Experts Call for Enhanced Healthcare Cooperation with China

US healthcare experts have called for closer interaction with China, asserting that such cooperation can improve the quality of patient care.

Chinese President Xi Jinping stated on Thursday his readiness to work with US President Donald Trump to steer relations between China and the United States toward a stable future course. Speaking at a welcoming ceremony in the White House, Xi noted that his visit to the United States was at Trump's invitation with the aim of maintaining friendship, expanding cooperation, and promoting the well-being of both peoples.

Dr. Sonali Sethi, president of the American Association of Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology (AABIP), stated during a panel discussion with leading Chinese physicians: 'We will definitely work with China. You have infrastructure, trainees, innovations; you have everything. And we are happy to help so that you do not make the same mistakes we made on our journey.'

Professor George Cheng from the University of California San Diego (UCSD) suggested that Chinese companies are implementing and refining clinical technologies and acquired experience, and there is now potential for a reciprocal exchange of knowledge—introducing Chinese innovations into Europe and the US for the benefit of local patients.

Professor Cheng added that such dynamic cross-validation of technologies and healthcare delivery models is the future, and it will lead to an improvement in the quality of care provided by doctors to patients.

Founded in 1992, AABIP provides participants with opportunities to present research, interact with colleagues, and develop joint projects. This meeting also serves as a platform for exchanging the latest advancements in research and clinical practice to improve patient care.

AIIMS expert debunks myth about controlling diabetes by skipping dinner

Many people with diabetes are very cautious about their diet: some exclude rice, while others completely abstain from evening meals. Social media often claims that skipping dinner helps control blood sugar levels, but experts question this information.

To find out the truth, we spoke with Dr. Rajesh Hargavath, Professor of Endocrinology at AIIMS in New Delhi. Dr. Hargavath emphasizes that when dealing with diabetes, it is extremely important to pay attention to nutrition throughout the entire day. The diet should contain a balanced combination of carbohydrates, proteins, and fiber. It is recommended to consume vegetables and whole grains, while avoiding excessive amounts of food and long breaks between meals.

Dr. Rajesh asserts that there is no connection between skipping dinner and diabetes control; it is a common myth. If a person takes insulin or other diabetes medications that can lower blood sugar, fasting or delaying meals can lead to a dangerously low drop in sugar. Therefore, diabetic patients are advised not to skip dinner based on advice from others or information from social media.

According to Dr. Rajesh Hargavath, managing diabetes primarily requires focusing on diet. It is important to include protein and necessary vitamins in the diet, as well as limiting the consumption of very sweet products. Furthermore, if weight gain is observed, controlling it is also mandatory. Daily exercise is necessary, performing two sessions of exercise lasting at least 45 minutes.

It is also noted that weight loss can contribute to improved blood sugar control. Reducing body mass in overweight individuals positively affects diabetes control.

Australia's Deputy Prime Minister states healthcare system data leak occurred due to OpenAI agent

The Deputy Prime Minister of Australia stated on Thursday that the infiltration of an OpenAI agent into the country's universal healthcare system is completely unacceptable.

Richard Marles, who is acting as Prime Minister while Anthony Albanese attends the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, told journalists that a government task force will be established to determine if this breach was illegal.

Albanese disclosed the situation during a speech in New York on Wednesday evening, specifying that the OpenAI agent gained unauthorized access to the Medicare data portal in June and viewed both public and private files.

He also noted that the government agency Services Australia, which manages this portal, was not notified of the incident by OpenAI until early September.

Marles emphasized on Thursday that authorities expressed concern to OpenAI regarding the delay in reporting the incident, which he called entirely unacceptable. He added: 'The government takes this very seriously. Nevertheless, it is important to assure the Australian public that the impact of this incident is relatively minor.'

According to Marles, the matter concerns aggregated medical statistical data, and no access was gained to any individual's data, nor was the system compromised in any way.

Furthermore, Marles reported that the task force announced by Albanese is investigating whether Australian legislation was violated and whether current laws align with the present capabilities of artificial intelligence.
