Beam Center is seeking design proposals for an ambitious public art piece that will be brought to life through collaboration between youth, the Beam Camp team, and the selected applicant.
These projects will be realized by a community of over 100 young people during the Beam Camp in July 2026.
Beam Camp is a summer camp specializing in building and teamwork, located in Strafford, New Hampshire. This award-winning program gives young people aged 9 to 17 the opportunity to develop practical skills while exploring innovative thinking, design, problem-solving, and the creative process.
Every year, Beam Camp solicits proposals for unique and impressive large-scale projects that serve as the central element of the four-week camp session. The project team works with the winning designers to transform their vision into a real structure, showcasing a high level of craftsmanship and technique from the 100 campers and more than 20 team members.
The projects are always ambitious and technically complex, and often our 'Big Project' becomes the world we inhabit during the camp stay. The themes and issues presented by our project spread throughout the camp, making every summer at Beam uniquely exciting compared to the last. We recommend reviewing our past projects.
