Changes have been made to electricity tariffs in Uzbekistan concerning large consumers. A new tariff ratio, dependent on the time of day, came into force on September 24: the night rate increased, and the daytime rate during semi-peak hours decreased.
These adjustments are based on a presidential decree issued on September 22. This document modified the methodology for calculating the cost of electricity for Group I consumers.
This category includes large consumers whose connected power capacity is 750 kilowatts or more. For them, the cost of electricity is now determined by the time of day.
Previously, the night electricity for large consumers in Group I tariff was approximately 733 soms per kilowatt-hour, but this price has now risen to 1.1 thousand soms. Conversely, during the day, during semi-peak hours, the opposite trend occurred: the cost decreased from 1.1 thousand to about 733 soms per kilowatt-hour.
It is important to note that these changes do not affect household consumers; separate tariffs remain for the population, calculated based on monthly consumption volume.
Theoretically, the increase in electricity costs for large enterprises may lead to an increase in their operating expenses, which could potentially affect the cost of goods or services produced. Nevertheless, the decree does not provide for automatic price increases for the population.
The decree also introduces the concept of an 'exemplary consumer.' Organizations that meet established criteria and have no debts or violations will be able to pay 15% of the consumed amount in advance instead of full prepayment. Furthermore, the fee for re-connecting to gas networks is abolished if the disconnection was previously due to debt.
As additional information, nearly 80 thousand cars were sold in Uzbekistan in July 2026. In this period, sales of new passenger cars grew by 5.9%, and the number of electric vehicles sold reached 9.3 thousand units.
