Due to water scarcity, the operations of the Labour Court and the Labour Appeal Court in Johannesburg were disrupted. Both judicial institutions temporarily closed early on Friday.
A statement from the Chief Justice's Office indicated that the courts would conclude their work at one o'clock in the afternoon. The announcement stated: 'Citizens, court users, and lawyers are informed that today the court will temporarily close at 13:00 due to water shortages affecting the building.'
Furthermore, it was announced that affected parties would be notified regarding alternative arrangements for all cases scheduled for the day in the court register. Work is expected to resume on Monday, September 28, 2026.
The Chief Justice's Office apologized for any inconvenience caused.
