Specialized Women's Urology Outpatient Clinic Opens at RMM Hospital to Treat Various Diseases

Women often ignore issues such as frequent urges to urinate, sudden strong urination, or severe lower abdominal pain, considering them normal due to age or after childbirth. In some cases, women avoid discussing these problems with doctors or family members.

To address this issue, a dedicated Women's Urology Outpatient Department (OPD) is being launched at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Medical Sciences (ABVIMS) and at Dr. Rama Manmohan Lohia Hospital (RML Hospital) in Delhi. This OPD will provide treatment for numerous urological conditions affecting women.

This women's OPD will commence operations at RML Hospital on September 30th in room number 63 on the first floor. The clinic will be headed by Dr. Hemant Kumar Goel, Professor and Head of the Department of Urology and Kidney Transplantation. Dr. Hemant announced this via Aajtak.in.

Dr. Hemant noted that the main advantage of this OPD is that special attention will be given to women's urological problems, along with diagnosis and treatment. This clinic is designed to treat six primary types of issues, including incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, frequent and sudden strong urges to urinate, urinary tract problems, difficulty urinating, and weakness or dysfunction of the pelvic floor muscles.

The clinic will operate twice a month, on Wednesdays. According to Dr. Hemant, this OPD is exclusively for women so they can openly discuss their ailments, allowing doctors to thoroughly examine their complete medical history. This ensures the timely detection and appropriate treatment of urological diseases.

Dr. Hemant emphasized that women can experience issues with pelvic muscle weakness after childbirth. Some women may experience the descent of the bladder or other pelvic organs, leading to symptoms ranging from heaviness to urine leakage. Women should not consider issues like urine leakage or frequent urges to be commonplace and ignore them.
