Taylor Swift expanded her album The Life of a Showgirl by adding four new songs, including the track Patient Zero, after fans deciphered a series of cryptic hints.
The expanded edition, The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore, became available on streaming platforms on Friday, September 25th. The album includes the compositions Patient Zero, Cleveland!, Pink Clouding, and Babylon.
Swift announced this release on Instagram, stating that the additional songs were written in Sweden with collaborators Max Martin and Shellback while she was celebrating the album's success. The artist emphasized that these tracks 'were born out of pure gratitude' for the support the fans gave the album.
Previously, Swift had confirmed the release of Patient Zero, announcing that the song would appear on September 25th. The 36-year-old singer revealed the release date after a countdown on her website reached zero. This announcement followed a series of cryptic clues that fans attempted to decode.
Among these clues were elements such as 'Chapters', 'descriptions off, selected', 'captions settings, opens captions settings dialog', and 'captions off, selected'. Additionally, the music video Opalite, released in February, featured a poster with the inscription 'PATIENT FOR THE ENCORE', and the video contained four cards, each displaying a zero.
Further clues emerged during Swift's appearance on the series Law and Order: SVU at the 2026 Emmy Awards ceremony. A four-word list she used—'Saccharide. Aries. From the vineyard. North or south'—became part of fan theories regarding the upcoming release. Later, fans discovered an anagram of the word 'ENCORE' in the third letters of these words, linking it to the clue from the Opalite video.
Before the official announcement, Swift also updated her social media bio, writing: 'And, baby, that’s sh0w business f0r y0u.'
