A new period of intense rainfall is expected in the states of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand before the end of the monsoon season. According to meteorological service forecasts, heavy rains are possible in various parts of both states over the next 72 hours, from September 25 to 27.
According to the meteorological department, very heavy rain is forecasted for eastern Uttar Pradesh on September 25 and 26, as well as heavy precipitation on September 27. In Uttarakhand, extremely heavy rain is warned for September 26, and very heavy rain for September 27.
Furthermore, strong rains accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds may also be observed in western Uttar Pradesh over the next three days. Thus, the weather in many areas of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand may remain unfavorable during these 72 hours. The impact of the rains in Uttarakhand may be felt on September 28 as well.
The impact of the precipitation will not be limited to Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand; heavy rains are also forecasted in several regions of Eastern India in the coming days. Heavy rain is expected in West Bengal, Sikkim, and Jharkhand, with the possibility of heavy precipitation and thunderstorms in some places.
Heavy rains can lead to flooding in low-lying areas and create road problems in mountainous regions, especially in Uttarakhand on September 26 and 27. Residents planning trips to mountainous areas are advised to monitor weather updates before going out.
On the other hand, the monsoon has begun to withdraw from the country. The meteorological service reported the start of the monsoon's withdrawal from some areas of Rajasthan on September 19. Following this, the monsoon was declared withdrawn from Delhi on September 23.
However, the monsoon is not leaving the entire country simultaneously but is gradually receding from different areas. The meteorological service takes several factors into account for this process, including a decrease in precipitation, a change in wind direction, and a decrease in air humidity.
Changes in the weather will be closely monitored after the period of heavy rains. If necessary meteorological conditions arise, the monsoon withdrawal process may accelerate. Currently, an increase in rainfall is expected in many areas of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand from September 25 to 27, after which the further progression of the monsoon season's conclusion in these regions is anticipated.
