A major humanitarian initiative by the United Arab Emirates, aimed at preparing over ten million portions of food for Gaza, has been renamed the 'Ahmed bin Rashid Humanitarian Bridge' to commemorate the legacy of the late Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The event will take place at the Dubai International Trade Centre on Saturday, September 26, gathering volunteers, members of the public, and admirers of the late Sheikh to pack food aid for the most vulnerable families and children in Gaza.
The initiative, which has received a new name, is organized by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) in collaboration with UAE’s Operation Chivalrous Knight 3. It aims to mark Sheikh Ahmed's lifelong commitment to charity, compassion, and supporting those in need.
Mohammed Al Gharawi, Secretary General of MBRGI, noted that Sheikh Ahmed's name has long been associated with modesty, benevolence, and generosity. He stated: 'Today, thousands of people who loved him are honoring his memory through this major humanitarian initiative.'
Al Gharawi added that the event reflects the generosity, affection, and loyalty of the Emirati community to the country's leaders. He emphasized: 'There is great appreciation for Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid's national and societal contribution throughout the journey of the UAE. Gratitude towards those who have served the nation will remain one of our firmly established national principles.'
Furthermore, the 'Ahmed bin Rashid Humanitarian Bridge' is intended to promote volunteering and strengthen the culture of participation and giving in the UAE. Organizers reported that the initiative demonstrates the public's readiness to support humanitarian efforts originating from the UAE and help alleviate suffering around the world.
