New seven-seater SUV Nissan Tekton spotted in testing; design and engine changes expected

Nissan Motor India is preparing to introduce a new vehicle to the Indian market. Following the release of the Nissan Gravite and Nissan Tekton models, the company plans to develop a larger SUV.

This SUV was spotted during testing on Indian roads. While the Gravite and Tekton attracted public attention, Nissan began preparations for the launch of the seven-seater version of the Tekton. This new vehicle is an expanded version of the existing Tekton, which has also undergone trials previously.

The seven-seater Nissan Tekton has appeared publicly before, but this is the first time its front and rear light signatures have been observed. The company intends to give this car a different look compared to the five-seater Tekton. However, the company has not yet provided specific information about its launch.

After the launch of the Tekton, Nissan sales increased. The company released this model in July, although sales were lower in August than in July. Nevertheless, the company's sales figures in August are better than in August of last year. The appearance of the seven-seater SUV is expected to further boost the company's sales.

The seven-seater SUV will feature a unique rear LED light in the Nissan. Instead of S-shaped lights, 'boomerang'-style lights pointing downwards will be used. Additionally, both rear lights will be connected by an LED strip, giving the car a bolder appearance. At the time of filming, the SUV was covered with camouflage wrap.

Observations suggest that this vehicle is approximately 300 mm larger than the current Tekton. In the front, it will be equipped with inverted LED daytime running lights and reflectors similar to the Tekton. The front of the car may feature a new grille, a redesigned bumper, and other new elements.

Regarding the engine, it will not feature the 1.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine. The company might release this vehicle with a 1.3-liter turbocharged gasoline engine. There is also a possibility that the company will offer it with a 1.8-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine and a hybrid system, although these engines are not used in the Tekton.

With the new engine, the company might offer a five-speed manual transmission and a CVT. Additionally, the possibility of releasing the Renault Triber with a factory CNG kit is being discussed. The company could potentially use a two-cylinder CNG system, and only the manual transmission would be offered with the CNG kit.

Currently, the Triber is equipped with a 1.0-liter naturally aspirated three-cylinder engine. The car's price ranges from 5.81 to 8.53 lakh at the export price. It is expected that the introduction of the turbocharged engine will lead to an increase in the car's price. Although the release date is unknown, the company might present it by the end of next month.

Tata tests new Nexon model: design changes and new SUV features expected

Tata Motors is working on a new generation of the popular Nexon car among consumers. In recent days, an updated version of the vehicle was observed undergoing testing, with the car covered in camouflage during the trials.

Previously, photos had appeared that provided some information about the car's appearance. The latest spy shots show a clear view of the exterior, especially the rear section, which has been redesigned. Tata introduced the Nexon in 2017, and since then, the car has been updated multiple times.

Despite numerous updates to style and features over the past nine years, the basic structure of the car has remained largely the same. However, the new Nexon may undergo significant changes, including modifications to the body and proportions of the vehicle.

Although the car is hidden under camouflage, its design can be quite easily guessed. The Nexon will have a more vertical and angular look. The roof will be flatter compared to the current Nexon, and the rear might adopt a coupe-like design.

It is also assumed that the headroom in the rear seats of the new Nexon will be improved. From the side, this SUV will have a coupe-like appearance, and the doors and glass area may also be reworked. The tail section looks higher than the current Nexon, and the rear window appears larger and equipped with a wiper.

A spoiler on the roof was also noticed during testing. Spy shots also highlighted the fuel cap placement: in the Nexon, it has moved to the level of the door handle, whereas in the current model, it is below the door handle. The new roofline, vertical rear profile, and changed body proportions indicate that Tata is not just making a cosmetic update.

Spy shots also show interior details. Components such as the steering wheel, infotainment system, and climate control may remain the same as in the current Nexon. Additional information may become available closer to production.

Regarding powertrains, the car will use the same engines as the current Nexon: a 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol and a 1.5-liter diesel. CNG will also remain part of the offering. Various changes may be made to the Nexon EV. The car is planned to launch next year, in 2027.
