Zeekr published a demonstration video to prove the resistance of the foam used in the seats of its electric minivan 009. In this test, the material was subjected to the passage of nine automobiles and subsequently, a 20-ton truck.
According to the luxury brand belonging to the Geely group, the foam component showed no structural changes or loss in vibration absorption capacity after the procedure.
The video, released on the 21st, showed a block of foam placed on the ground, being compacted by nine different models from Zeekr itself. These vehicles ranged from the urban crossover X, which weighs 1.9 tons, to the 009, weighing 2.9 tons. Additionally, other models such as the 007 sedan, 7 GT, 7X SUV, 001, Mix minivan, 8X, and 9X also drove over the piece, totaling approximately 20 tons of weight.
Next, the test included the heavy Farizon Homtruck H truck, manufactured by the same conglomerate's commercial vehicle division.
It is important to note that this demonstration is promotional material produced by the automaker itself, without any external verification. Zeekr was responsible for conducting the subsequent measurements and claims that the foam maintained its damping characteristics.
The manufacturer explains that the seat in the 009 model uses an internal layered architecture, which the company calls sandwich structure. This structure is formed by an upper layer made of high-resilience foam, an intermediate layer of high-density and fast-response foam, and a softer lower layer.
Zeekr states that this assembly offers vibration damping performance 1.5 times superior to standard foam found in automotive seats. The seats are finished in Nappa leather, and the second-row seats feature advanced functionalities, including 180-degree rotation, zero-gravity reclining, electric leg support, 22-point massage, as well as heating and ventilation.
With dimensions of 5.22 meters in length, 2.02 meters in width, and 1.81 meters in height, and a wheelbase of 3.21 meters, the 009 is sold exclusively in China. The entry-level version features a 422 horsepower front electric motor and a 108 kWh battery, providing a range of 740 km in the Chinese CLTC cycle, equivalent to 607 km in the more demanding European WLTP standard.
The configuration equipped with two motors reaches 925 hp, using a 115 kWh battery and offering a range of 720 km in CLTC, or 590 km in WLTP. Sales prices range between R$ 334 thousand and R$ 357 thousand (equivalent to 439,800 to 469,800 yuan).
This marketing effort comes at a time of declining sales for the model: between January and August 2026, 12,405 units were delivered in the Chinese market, representing a 12.8% reduction compared to the same period last year.
