A new border crossing point named 'Keskanyor' will be commissioned on the border between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. This point is designed to be twice as large as the existing 'Dustlik' point. It is expected that after it begins operating, the volume of goods transported between the two countries will increase two to three times, and the time required to cross the border will be reduced by one week.
This information was announced at a meeting chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The meeting was dedicated to issues of socio-economic development in the Andijan region, support for entrepreneurship, and increasing the population's income level.
The creation of 'Keskanyor' is directly linked to the need to expand transport corridors in this region. In particular, thanks to the launch of the 'China – Kyrgyzstan – Uzbekistan' railway line, a tenfold increase in cargo transportation volume through the Andijan region is planned, bringing it to 15 million tons annually.
To meet growing demands for cargo transportation, it has been ordered to begin implementing the logistics complex project by the end of the current year. This complex will cost 600 million dollars and will occupy an area of 300 hectares in the settlements of Kurgontep and Khanabad.
In addition, the design of a toll highway 78 kilometers long along the 'Khanabad – Andijan' route is planned. Another transport project under consideration is the construction of a toll road connecting Tashkent and Andijan, with practical work scheduled for next year.
Meanwhile, a high-speed train began operating in September between Tashkent and Andijan. Thanks to this change, the travel time between these cities has decreased from six hours to four.
