Tata Motors has changed its identity by rebranding as Tata Cars. As part of the new concept, the company is preparing to launch a new vehicle that will be a direct competitor to the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, which has long dominated the sedan market. This refers to the Tata Aeris model, the launch of which is scheduled for this week.
The company began announcing this model, and its official premiere will take place on September 25th. The Tata Aeris will replace the existing Tigor model. Through this car, Tata aims to improve sales figures in the budget sedan segment.
In the latest teaser, Tata Aeris conveyed the message 'Start Scoring, Stop Being Boring,' suggesting a possible change in the company's approach to vehicle design. The teaser shows that the car will feature projector headlights combined with integrated elegant LED daytime running lights. Instead of the chrome grille found on the Tigor, the Aeris will have a glossy black panel connecting the headlights. The car will be presented in a new light purple metallic color that the company is actively promoting.
Furthermore, the Aeris will be equipped with wheels featuring a new design, on which the Tata logo will be placed. The rear might feature pixel-style taillights, and vertical and horizontal elements may be added to give a more dynamic feel. Although this is not yet confirmed, the design might include a sequential turn signal function. The Aeris will have a 3D lettering inscription on the rear.
The company also presented the interior of the Tata Aeris. The cabin features a 10.25-inch touchscreen multimedia system, a two-spoke steering wheel, and a fully digital instrument cluster. The interior will be finished in light tones, and the Aeris dashboard largely resembles the updated Tata Tiago Facelift model. The car will have rear air vents for the air conditioner, a 360-degree camera system, a Type-C charging port, and a new climate control unit. Control buttons are clearly visible in the teaser, and wireless charging, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay will be available.
The Tata Aeris will be fitted with a 1.2-liter petrol engine, previously used in the Tigor. This engine is capable of producing 83 horsepower and 113 Nm of torque. Options are available with a 5-speed manual transmission and an automatic transmission (AMT). Considering the competition from Maruti, the introduction of a CNG version is likely. This model will be available with a dual-cylinder CNG in the CNG + AMT configuration, providing additional trunk space.
