Virendra Sehwag, known for his aggressive play on the field, shared memories of the highs and lows in his life. He also spoke about significant partnerships with Sachin Tendulkar and the lessons he learned from his experience.
Currently, Sehwag is preparing to start a new chapter in his career as the host of the reality show 'Rise and Fall'. Before taking on this new role, he recalled periods of his life that he calls 'falls' in an interview with ANI.
Sehwag stated that throughout his career, he repeatedly faced situations where he was excluded from the Indian national team. He believes the first major setback occurred after his international cricket debut in 1999 when he was not allowed to play. He returned in 2001 but faced another exclusion during the 2006–2007 period. Furthermore, in 2007–2008, he could not participate in the tour of England.
However, instead of sinking into despair during this difficult time, Sehwag focused on strengthening himself. He noted that he used this time to improve his physical fitness to be better prepared for a return to the Indian squad and to play longer.
In 2008, he returned to the team and subsequently scored his second triple century in his Test match. His two triple centuries in Test cricket remain among the most outstanding achievements of his career. It was during the period he defines as a 'fall' that he prepared himself so well that he was able to make history again upon his return.
During the conversation, Sehwag also recalled his memorable partnerships with Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar. They played many magnificent innings together for the Indian cricket team, and their duo was very popular with fans.
Speaking about his Test debut, Sehwag mentioned that Sachin was playing alongside him at that time. Sachin provided him with much help. In that match, Sachin scored 155 runs, and Sehwag scored 104. Sehwag added that along with Sachin, he also achieved partnerships of 100 and over 200 runs.
Discussing his relationship and partnership with Sachin Tendulkar, Sehwag made a humorous remark: for him, the absence of Sachin from the team was also considered a 'fall'. He emphasized that they both witnessed many 'falls', and for him, a typical 'fall' happened when Sachin did not play.
Praising Sachin, Sehwag advised people to take inspiration from him. He stated that becoming like Sachin Tendulkar is not easy, given his level of skill and dedication. He urged people to draw inspiration from him and build their own names.
After concluding his cricket career, Sehwag, who previously entertained viewers with his candid and humorous commentary, is now moving into the world of reality television. He was offered the role of host for the show 'Rise and Fall' during the IPL. Sehwag revealed that the offer came from the Amazon Prime team, which inquired about his possibility of hosting this show. He watched some clips and presentations and decided that he could handle the task.
He also noted that he talks a lot while commenting on the IPL. Now it remains to see how Sehwag, who knows how to criticize bowlers on the field, will present the 'ups and downs' of the reality show participants. The premiere of 'Rise and Fall Season 2' will take place on September 26th. The show will be available free daily at 12:00 on the Prime Video and MX Player applications for Android.
