Nissan revealed the Pixo this Wednesday, the 23rd, an electric compact vehicle that revives an older brand name and will take the entry-level position in the European lineup, positioned below the Micra. This new model is considered a factory sibling of the Renault Twingo because it shares crucial components such as the platform, battery, engine, and assembly line.
Unlike its first version, which was basically a Suzuki Alto imported from India, the current Pixo results from an industrial collaboration between Nissan and Renault in Europe. It uses the same structural base as the Twingo and the new Dacia Spring, being produced at the Renault plant located in Novo Mesto, Slovenia, where all three vehicles are manufactured on the same line.
In terms of appearance, the Japanese manufacturer sought to give the Pixo its own identity, presenting a more angular silhouette, along with headlights and taillights featuring a pixelated design. The bumpers were designed by Nissan itself to have a 'robot face.' Despite this, the side profile retains traits inherited from France. With a length of 3.80 meters, the Pixo is 11 cm shorter than the Micra and has a turning diameter identical to the Twingo's, which is 9.9 meters.
Internally, the vehicle is equipped with a 27.5 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, making it the first of its kind used by a Nissan in Europe. This system provides a range of up to 259 km under the WLTP cycle. Fast DC charging reaches from 15% to 80% in approximately 28 minutes with power up to 50 kW, while the 11 kW AC charger supports bidirectional flow. A notable difference compared to Renault is that Nissan includes the fast charging feature as standard on all its versions, unlike Renault's policy, which charges this package separately.
The front electric motor generates 82 horsepower and 17.8 kgfm of torque, allowing the car to reach 100 km/h in 12.1 seconds and achieve a top speed of 130 km/h.
The Pixo's interior reflects its proximity to its platform partners, offering rear seats that can be slid and folded. In the most advanced configuration, the trunk holds 356 liters. The cabin integrates physical controls for daily operations and a 10.1-inch screen running the Google operating system, which supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the Gemini assistant.
Deliveries of the Pixo in Europe are scheduled to begin in early 2027, and the car will be unveiled at the Brussels Motor Show in January. Nissan awaits until December to announce the prices. As a point of comparison, the Twingo starts sales in Germany from 19,990 euros (approximately R$ 119 thousand), a level that the Japanese automaker will need to match or exceed to justify the Pixo's presence in the market.
